Cooking classes

  

Japanese Cultural Cooking Classes at 1800 hours offered the last Thursday of every month at the Atago Community Center. If you are interested in attending, please call the JAS office first (telephone number listed below) to sign up as space is limited. The cost is approximately 1000 ¥ per person. Cooking class (October 30th, '08)

           

Tropical Sushi

Rice-Cook 10 cups of rice (for large group)

Stir in 1cup sushi vinegar  2 teaspoons sugar and a little salt into hot rice.  Fan to cool while stirring.  Set aside and prepared topping.

Topping: can tuna Lettuce torn into pieces Cherry tomatoes  Cucumbers cut into small pieces Avocacado cut into small pieces  Can of corn Nori

Sprinkle  toppings on top of rice and serve

Steak with Daikon/Vinegar

Top round steak- fry with salt, pepper and garlic. Then slice real thin.  Set aside. Make marinade: 

Mix together the following: Vinegar, Sugar, Soy Sauce. Add to this Nira chopped and ground Daikon, Dash of lemon juice.

Pour over  steak and let set.

 * Daikon(大根)...Japanese white radish

 * Nira (韮)  ...leek/looks like green onions

Vegetable cream soup

Slice vegetables into bite size pieces. Potatoes, Onions, Carrots, Shemeji mushrooms, Shiitake mushrooms.

In a pot put water, 1 can Consume Soup

Add vegetables and cook until tender.

Add Cream Stew Sauce packet mix and when done stir in some Celery leaves and fresh cream.
